Collins Foundation WWII Bomber

Moffett Field, CA - May 31, 2006 to June 2

Moffett Field - North of San Jose, CA - a beautiful airport - closed for General Aviation. We were invited to display our aircrafts with three bombers of the Collins Foundation.
The old Hangar One - built for airships - is supposed to be torn down soon, but maybe not.
5 Stearman flew in to be displayed - three in Formation - two in loose Formation.
A beautiful B25 from the Collins Foundation on display and waiting for passengers buying rides.
A B24 in front of Hangar One.
The very same B24 on takeoff roll.
The third aircraft is a B17.
The B17 in close-up from the front. Four machine-guns defend this fortress.
Andreas posing in front of the B17 while the two pilots are turing one of the propellors
The cockpit in great condition
Immediately after takeoff we were allowed to walk around the whole airplane - here still on climb-out.
Coming around for a pass over the field
The gunners place in the front of the aircraft is a great place to enjoy the view.
Sitting on the chair in the glass-bubble in the front of the B17 during flight.
You can look out the top of the airplane just behind the bomb-bay - rather windy - almost blew my camera away. The Los Gatos Hills in the background
On the way back to Moffett Field
A wonderful view of the starboard engines.
